There is an opportunity to give back to our community through helping neighborhood children.  We have a toy drive that was created by the school resource officer Deputy Glasper years ago. Every year, he collects toys, bikes, etc. to reach children who could benefit from this program.  

If you would like to help, please donate toys or a monetary donation to Rugg Elementary before December 15th. We will also be collecting toys on December 10th's Holiday Tour of Homes.

December 5th -10th-  2016 Holiday House Decorating Contest in the Historic Heart of Alexandria

All homes from Bolton Avenue to Texas Avenue, from Monroe Street to Lee Street & Masonic Avenue are welcome to participate.  Entry forms and fee must be received by December 2nd.  Judging will take place Friday, December 9th, 2016 between 6-9 pm.  

Awards Presentation will be Saturday, December 10th, 2014 at 4:00 pm at the First United Methodist parking lot at 2727 Jackson Street. This will help kick off the Garden District Holiday Tour of Homes that evening!  Homes will be judged based on curbside appeal only. Judges will not enter the property. $10.00 entry fee.

December 12th-  Garden District Holiday Tour of Homes 2016

Join Alexandria’s Garden District Neighborhood Foundation and the Alexandria Historic Preservation Commission on Saturday, December 10 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. for their 2016 Holiday Tour of Homes.  Tickets are $25 per person.  The funds raised from this event go directly into Garden District Neighborhood Foundation projects.
